A farmer near Lowndesboro, Alabama recently contacted Arcanum Research regarding the mysterious appearance of a dark, viscous, fluid emerging from a creek sandbank on his property. We traveled to Alabama in December of 2009 and commenced our investigation. After containing the spread, several attempts to identify the liquid and the nature of its source  failed. We collected samples for further study. It was noted that the internal temperature of the fluid was 98.6˚f despite atmospheric conditions of 45˚f.

On October 14th, 2009, citizens of Moscow reported a strange light circle in the clouds over the city. A UFO was quickly ruled out, but scientist have been unable to satisfactorily explain this phenomena–other than calling it an optical effect. It was reported that pandemonium broke out when people fled the location directly under the ring. Confusion and panic ensued when people under the ring realized their cars would not start. It was also reported that telephone and cellular telephone signals suffered severe interference. Arcanum Research is investigating the phenomena by acquiring images and questioning witnesses.

As many of you certainly remember Arcanum Research was recently contracted to accompany F. Scott Hess to the legendary Iverson’s Pits area of the Gettysburg Battlefield. (For the details surrounding the purpose of this trip please see the discussion thread at the Friends of Arcanum Research group on Facebook.) This trip occurred a few weeks ago and to our utter dismay an event transpired which was so unexpected and inexplicable that our observations were forced to be aborted. What follows is an account of those events.

Scott and the Arcanum team arrived at the location at 6:32 EST on the evening of September 18, 2009. We quickly initiated the process of setting up the various devices used to detect any unusual activity. While still in the early stages of these procedures, as Scott was about to pose for a photograph, he was hit in the back of his right leg by a sharp object. The inexplicable projectile immediately drew blood. Within a matter of moments several projectiles, apparently emerging from the thick grass or from the soil, began flying at Scott’s legs from several directions.  Despite the panic that ensued, the Arcanum team immediately attempted to protect Scott from further lacerations and then began to collect the objects to prevent any more attacks. After careful inspection, the objects appeared to be Civil War era metal uniform buttons. We collected 10 such buttons of various sizes. Once the buttons were picked up by the Arcanum team members they no longer exhibited any of their previous locomotive capabilities. The Arcanum team was ready to precede as planned, but the event had so rattled Scott that he refused to continue and the plan was called off.

Holly approaches underwater light

Only a few days after arriving in Belle, Missouri to investigate reports of intermittent lights emanating from a few small ponds, we were able to spot one for ourselves. On July 30, 2009 the farmer who made the original contact with us last month, Mr. Horace Pogittel spotted the light and immediately called us. We arrived just as dusk was falling. To our surprise the light was far more focused than we had anticipated. Based on initial reports we were expecting to see a large portion of water illuminated. Instead it appeared to be a light bulb directly under the surface. Arcanum Researcher Holly Streekstra immediately booted-up and started into the water. The bottom proved quite muddy. Holly had a difficult time making her way to the light source. It took several minutes. As she approached, the light became dimmer as though aware of her presence. Unfortunately as Holly finally arrived alongside the light, it went out. She reached into the murky water, but was unable to obtain anything unusual. We remained at the site for an additional 2 hours, but the light did not recur. According to Mr. Pogittel  this illumination was more concentrated than the others that had been reported earlier in the summer.
